I qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Forvis Mazars, working on large and listed company audits, before making the move into industry at Montagu Private Equity. Over six years there I worked my way from Management Accountant to Financial Controller, which gave me a thorough grounding in the operational side of PE.
What I enjoy most about working in private equity is the unpredictability – no two days look the same, and there’s always something new to get stuck into. I joined ECI because I was drawn to the culture, the people and the vision of the firm, as well as the chance to broaden my scope into fund finance and operations, having spent the earlier part of my career focused on the management company side of things.
At ECI, I work across both firm and fund finance, as well as wider operational matters.
Working at my parents’ newsagent as a teenager. The pay came in the form of fizzy drinks and chocolate, which seemed like a fantastic deal at the time – less so now.
Not quite 15 minutes, but I was once an extra in a Bollywood film. The scene was set at Lord’s Cricket Ground, where if you look carefully you can just about make out the back of my head.
Mutton kothu roti. It’s a Sri Lankan street food classic – chopped roti stir-fried with slow-cooked mutton curry, eggs, vegetables, and plenty of spice. Even better with a mutton roll on the side.
