Jessica Johnston
Investment Manager
As part of ECI’s Investment Team, I spend my time meeting with ambitious businesses, assessing new investment opportunities, and working closely with management teams to support them throughout their growth journey.
Before joining ECI, I spent five years in the Technology & Services investment banking team at Raymond James where I advised founders and PE sponsors across the UK and Europe, with deal experience spanning data services, software, and professional services businesses.
I began my career at KPMG, where I qualified as a chartered accountant, and hold an undergraduate degree in History.
At 14, I started as a waitress at the Red Lion, Chieveley, where I continued to work throughout my school years. Whilst not hugely lucrative (£4.20/hour!), I gained invaluable life experience, most importantly dealing with all sorts of different characters (angry chefs, an eccentric landlord, and a rabble of locals).
This is tough, as I’m a huge fan of cooking and eating. It would probably have to be one of the long lunches I’ve had at the Sportsman in Whitstable, a very unassuming 1960s pub which serves phenomenal food.
The highbrow answer would be something like The Shawshank Redemption, but the honest answer is A Knight’s Tale, which I have watched more times than I can count and can more or less recite the script of.
