CSL provides critical connectivity solutions to the Internet of Things market.
How we’re helping
CSL are an international Internet of Things service provider specialising in critical connectivity across various sectors. Since ECI first invested in 2020, CSL has seen significant growth beyond its building, security and telehealth heritage, moving into other verticals requiring critical connectivity, including the transport and logistics, commercial, retail and hospitality and utilities sectors.
The apps and portals used by customers offer real-time visibility, status updates and remote maintenance, with expert support teams available 24/7 across the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain and the US.
Strategic acquisitions:
- CSL has successfully delivered historical acquisitions and the ECI Origination Team is supporting management to execute their M&A roadmap in the critical connectivity market, acquiring Caburn Telecom since investment.
Internationalisation:
- We are supporting CSL’s management team to broaden and deepen its international presence in Europe and the US.
People & culture:
- We have supported CSL in their appointment of a new CTO with 25 years’ experience across the telecoms, internet security and legal technology sectors.
Product strategy:
- In 2024 CSL launched rSIM®, the world’s first truly resilient and intelligent SIM card that monitors connectivity and actively switches profiles for maximum uptime. This is especially important for life-critical, business-critical and mission-critical applications across all verticals.
- The business has won major new projects during ECI’s investment period, including being selected by Vodafone as the UK National Lottery Partner.
In 2025, ECI 11 exited CSL into a Continuation Fund, representing a return of 3.5x since we first invested in the company in 2020.
