A global provider of workforce safety technology solutions
How we helped
Peoplesafe is a global provider of workforce safety software products and services for lone workers and at-risk workers. Through its core workforce protection products, Peoplesafe offers 24/7 protection, 365 days a year for employees of NHS trusts, local authorities, housing associations, utilities and major corporations who work by themselves or are at risk.
As soon as an alarm is raised one of its trained operatives in its Alarm Receiving Centre handles the call and directs the relevant emergency services should the need arise.
Peoplesafe offers clients personal alarms and mobile apps that feature an ‘SOS alarm function’, allowing users to request help at the touch of a button. Its smartphone apps also provide additional solutions such as incident management and a new, differentiated service for employees who aren’t at-risk workers, but still require the base protection that our service offers.
Internationalisation:
- We undertook in-depth research into the US and Canadian lone worker market, led by North American Growth Specialist, Brett Pentz, to inform the go-to-market plan of which end markets and states/provinces to prioritise commercial efforts.
- We supported Peoplesafe in completing three acquisitions during our partnership : Alertcom, Safe Shores Monitoring, and Ok Alone. These accretive deals helped expand geographic reach.
- The acquisition of Ok Alone, a Canadian business, provided the platform for Peoplesafe’s North American expansion.
Sales & marketing:
- We supported the management team to consolidate its separate Send for Help Group brands under one single brand, Peoplesafe, that was firmly focused on its role as a facilitator for a safer society and in supporting employee welfare across all sectors.
People & culture:
- Our Commercial Team supported Peoplesafe with a people project to bring together the shared values and ethos across the different brands under the wider Group and supported the management team to implement company-wide engagement surveys.
- We supported the expansion of the leadership team to drive the next phase of growth, bringing in Jeremy Williams as CFO, Mark Ryder as CCO/CRO, Jen Cosgrove as COO, and Will Solomon as CTO, all with significant PE and scale-up experience from businesses including Capita, Colt, Experian, and Orange.
Tech & data:
- To create a platform for future growth, Peoplesafe undertook an extensive digital transformation project including the implementation of Salesforce, Zendesk and a new ERP system.
- Central to this was the launch of the award-winning Nexus platform, marking Peoplesafe’s software-led strategy. Nexus enables rapid feature development and expansion into new markets.
- Building on Nexus, Peoplesafe successfully delivered its product roadmap, launching Travelsafe for employee travel safety, Roamsafe for low-signal connectivity, and AI-powered Alarm Intelligence to expedite emergency response.
Social value strategy:
- ECI supported Peoplesafe to develop a social value strategy, start tracking carbon data, and articulate their positive impact, helping the team to compete in tender processes. This supported the exit to an Article 9 Fund to support a goal of improving worker safety across the globe.
In January 2026, ECI exited Peoplesafe to Summa Equity, generating a 2.7x return. ECI continues as a minority investor alongside Summa, reflecting confidence in Peoplesafe’s continued growth trajectory.
