Steve Tudge
Non-Executive Chair
I am the non-exec chair of ECI. I took over this role in 2020 after 26 years as an executive member of the Investment Team, including over 16 years as Managing Partner and Investment Committee member. I have been involved in many of ECI’s investments since 1994, but some of the highlights are Moneypenny, 4Ways, Avantia, Citation, Great Rail Journeys, Fourth, Car Trawler and Laterooms.
I studied Management Sciences at Warwick University, before my early career at PwC where I specialised in advising small and medium sized businesses, and qualified as a chartered accountant.
“My first job was as a Saturday boy in a traditional greengrocer where I learnt early on the value of hard work. I also developed my fruit and veg display skills and an unrivalled knowledge of apple varieties, although these have been less useful in my PE career.”
“My twin loves are loud guitar music and reading, not necessarily at the same time. In neither area do I have permanent favourites- for me it’s more about what new exciting band, track, story or concept I might discover next.”
“I am passionate about social mobility and equality of opportunity for young people, having benefitted from the supportive environment of the 1980’s. So, my family and I like to do a lot of activities raising money for these areas.”
