Lewis joined ECI in 2008 to start up the Commercial Team, which is focused on addressing growth initiatives and helping teams achieve more. Lewis’ current and past investments include XLN, Wireless Logic, Citation, ChartCo, Clarke Energy, Harvard Technology and Imagesound. In addition, Lewis has Commercial Team responsibility for AKW and Kelvin Hughes. He previously spent eight years as a strategy consultant at the Monitor Group, based in both London and Hong Kong. Lewis holds an MEng in chemical engineering from Cambridge University.
Eleanor works across ECI’s Healthcare and TMT sectors. Before joining ECI in 2009, Eleanor spent six years at McKinsey & Co and a year working as a health adviser at the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit for Tony Blair. Eleanor has a degree in politics, philosophy and economics from Oxford University and an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School. Investments include Auction Technology Group, Citation, Investis and Stewart.
Michael joined ECI in 2015 having previously spent four years in investment banking at Canaccord Genuity, and four years at Deloitte within the Corporate Finance division. His current investments include Edenhouse and Stewart. Michael graduated with a degree in Physics from Oxford University.
Richard is head of ECI’s Business Services team. Before joining ECI in 2001, Richard spent eight years at PwC, where he gained an ACA. His past investments include Citation and Tragus, and he is on the board of Edenhouse and Investis. Richard has a degree in material science and metallurgy from Cambridge University.
Caroline joined ECI in 2009 as a member of the Commercial Team, addressing growth initiatives and helping teams to achieve more. Caroline's current and past investments include MPM, Fourth, CarTrawler, Reed & Mackay, rhubarb, Great Rail Journeys, Encore and Investis. She previously spent seven years as a strategy consultant at both KPMG and Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman). She holds an MEng in manufacturing engineering from Cambridge University.
David Ewing is a member of ECI’s Investment Committee, and has overall responsibility for ECI's network, marketing and origination activities. He joined ECI in 2001 following an early career in software development. His past and present investments include Think Money, Laterooms, M and M Direct, Ascribe, Fourth, Encore Tickets and Auction Technology Group. David has a degree in aeronautical engineering from Glasgow University and an MBA from Manchester Business School.
Joe joined ECI in 2012 and is a member of the Commercial Team, addressing growth initiatives and helping teams to achieve more. Joe's current and past investments include IT Lab, Citation, Avantia, ATG Media, Tusker and Evans Cycles. He also supported management in the flotation of Bargain Booze (trading as Conviviality Retail). He previously spent seven years as a strategy consultant at OC&C and the Javelin Group. He holds an MPhil in history from Cambridge University.
Oliver joined ECI in 2013 having spent four years at Deloitte within the Corporate Finance Division. His current and past investments include IT Lab, Encore Tickets, and Kelvin Hughes ChartCo. Oliver studied Economics and Econometrics at the University of Nottingham and holds an ACA.
John is Head of ECI's Northern office in Manchester. His past ECI investments include EDM, Bargain Booze and M2. He currently represents ECI’s interests on the boards of AKW, Clarke Energy and Imagesound. He joined ECI in 2003 from KPMG. He graduated with a First Class degree in management sciences from UMIST and holds an ACA.
Kate joined ECI in 2015 as Marketing Manager, to work across the team and increase ECI's marketing activity. Kate joined the team from Smedvig Capital, where she worked closely with the investment team on all marketing and communications activity. Prior to this Kate worked in Marketing and Communications at Rothschild. She graduated with a BA Hons in French and Spanish from Bristol University.
Charlie is responsible for deal origination and advisory relationships, having joined in 2004. Previously, he worked at Ernst & Young in London for eight years, spending time in corporate finance, corporate recovery and a year with VSO. Charlie has an MA in economics from the University of Edinburgh and holds an ACA.
Mark Keeley is a Partner based in ECI's Manchester office. He is Head of ECI's Industrials team and a member of the Business Services team. Mark started his career with Arthur Andersen, before joining Deloitte in Leeds, where he spent several years in the corporate finance advisory team. His current investments include MPM, Clarke Energy and Harvard Technology. He is on the board of MPM and Harvard Engineering. Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Leeds University Business School and holds an ACA.
Fiona joined ECI in 2013, after spending five years at PwC, working within the Corporate Finance team. Since joining ECI, Fiona has completed investments in MPM, Avantia, ATG Media, Investis, Tusker and Evans Cycles, and is currently a Board Observer at Tusker. Fiona graduated in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University and also holds an ACA qualification.
Jeremy joined ECI in 2007 having spent the previous three years as Head of Investor Relations and Chief Operating Officer at FM Capital Management Limited, a hedge fund manager. Before that, he spent seven years with Cazenove & Co and Cazenove Capital, and had an early career in the British Army. He studied economics at London Business School, has a master’s in English from the University of Edinburgh, and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. Jeremy is Chairman of the BVCA's Responsible Investment Advisory Board and is also a member of the BVCA's Investor Relations Committee.
Paul heads the Financial Services sector and also has significant TMT experience. He joined ECI in early 2008 and sits on the boards of Avantia and Tusker with previous investments including rhubarb, Wireless Logic and XLN. Before ECI, Paul was a manager in the business improvement team at PwC, where he gained an ACA. He graduated with a MEng in mechanical engineering from Nottingham University.
George is a Partner and Head of the Consumer sector team. Before joining ECI in 2008, George was at N M Rothschild & Sons Limited for five years where he was a senior associate in the Corporate Finance department. He has completed an MBA at INSEAD and is a graduate in modern languages from Bristol University. His current and past investments include Reed & Mackay, CarTrawler, Citation, Great Rail Journeys, Encore Tickets and Evans Cycles. He is on the board of Encore Tickets and Evans Cycles.
Rory joined ECI in 2015 as part of the Commercial Team, addressing growth initiatives and helping teams to achieve more. Rory’s focus is working on projects across the current portfolio to drive growth in the businesses we have backed. He previously spent two years as a strategy consultant at OC&C. He holds an MSc in natural sciences from Cambridge University.
Suzanne joined ECI in 2011 to work on deal origination. Previously, Suzanne was at Coleman Research Group, where she managed projects across EMEA. Suzanne holds a degree in modern languages (German and French) from Oxford, and a research master’s from Royal Holloway, University of London.
Stephen joined in 2015, having previously been a secondee. Prior to joining ECI he spent over 9 years at PwC, including 5 years within the Corporate Finance division. Current investments include Imagesound, Tusker and Evans Cycles. Stephen holds a degree in Economics and Politics from the University of York, and holds an ACA.
Philip joined ECI in 1996 and is responsible for all matters relating to the accounting, legal, regulatory and tax obligations of ECI and its funds. He is a former Chairman of the BVCA’s Taxation Committee. Before joining ECI, he spent four years working with growth companies in the mid-market division of PwC, where he gained an ACA. He has a degree in business studies, and holds an MBA from London Business School.
Dan Skyte is an Analyst. He joined ECI in 2016 to work on deal origination across all industry sectors. Previously, Dan was at Third Bridge, where he managed projects for private equity, hedge fund, and credit fund clients across EMEA. He graduated with a degree in Economics from Newcastle University.
Steve Tudge is a member of the Investment Committee and Chairman of the Partnership Board. He joined ECI in 1994, having spent eight years at Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC), gaining an ACA specialising in advising small and medium-sized businesses. His past and present investments include LateRooms, GK Communications, Anix, EDM, Fourth, CarTrawler, Great Rail Journeys and Avantia. He graduated in management sciences from Warwick University.
Chris Watt is a Partner and a member of the ECI Investment Committee. He joined ECI in 1999 from Arthur Andersen where he specialised in private equity transactions. Past investments include Reed & Mackay, Nuaire, Enviros, Kirker, Hoseasons and CarTrawler. He is currently on the board of Great Rail Journeys. He graduated in chemistry from Oxford University and holds an ACA.
Sean Whelan is a member of the Investment Committee and has overall responsibility for ECI’s investor relations, exit strategy across the portfolio and post-investment added value including the Commercial Team. Before joining ECI in 1998, he worked as a strategy consultant for Gemini Consulting and Bain & Company. His past and current investments include ClarityBlue, Bounty, Language Line, MM Group, WCI, Harmoni, CliniSys, XLN, Wireless Logic, Investis, Tusker, IT Lab and Edenhouse. Sean graduated in economics from Cambridge University and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Tom is Head of ECI’s TMT sector team. Since joining ECI in 2006, he has worked with TMT investments, including IT Lab, Auction Technology Group, CliniSys, Kelvin Hughes, XLN, CarTrawler and Avantia. He is currently on the board of Auction Technology Group and IT Lab. Previously, he worked at Close Brothers, where he advised a wide range of private equity and corporate clients on acquisitions and disposals. Tom initially trained as a chartered accountant with Deloitte and has a degree in physics from Oxford University.
Ken is ECI's non-Executive Chairman and a former Managing Partner. Ken joined ECI in 1984. Previous investments include, among others, Kelvin Hughes, rhubarb, Reed & Mackay, Stewart, Racal Acoustics, Guardian IT and Highway. He graduated in mathematics and computer sciences from Bristol University and qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte Haskins and Sells (now PwC).
